Circuit Length

Circuit Length: The routed distance the service travels between the customer premises and our network. The ducts that the circuit will run through will travel further than the straight line distance between the two points. To check the availability of Internet access services at your address, use the ‘What services are available to me?’ at the top right of this page.

Contention Ratio

Contention Ratio: The number of users that have access to the same bandwidth at any one time. Typical consumer Internet connections often offer 20:1 or even 50:1 contention ratios. This means that 20 or 50 users will be competing for the same bandwidth – something that can slow connection speeds significantly during periods of peak use. Our EtherStream™ , SureStream and SDSL connections have 1:1 contention ratios, while our ADSL business broadband offers contention ratios as low as 5:1.

Colocation

Colocation: The secure housing and connectivity of customer IT and server equipment. Provided by Colocation services.
